Your First visit
At the initial consultation you will be greeted by our friendly reception staff and asked to fill out a detailed medical history form. Please bring a list of medications that you are taking, with you to your appointment. We also ask you to bring your letter of referral if you have one and any relevant X-rays to help with diagnosis. If you do not have x-rays we can arrange to take them if necessary.
If you have any worries or queries at this time, we are more than happy to discuss them with you. You will then be invited into the surgery where Dr McElhinney will have a consultation with you, addressing your concerns before examining you. She will complete a thorough examination of your dental tissues, muscles and gums to assess for periodontitis.
Dr McElhinney will then discuss the results of the examination and formulate a treatment plan. We will discuss as best as possible, how many visits the treatment will take, the approximate time frame and the cost. You can discuss any matter relating to treatment or cost with either the reception staff or the Periodontist.
We have Hicaps available to claim directly through to your health fund. You will need to bring in your health fund membership card and you will then just need to pay the gap payment.
We are an HBF Member Plus Provider and if eligible you can claim a rebate of up to 80% of your periodontal treatment.
